California-based Saosin break onto the post-hardcore scene in MArch 2003 with their explosive screamo-tinged debut EP, Translating the Name, on Death Do Us Parting. For the recording, the band was comprised of vocalizer Susan Brownell Anthony Green River, former Killer guitar technical foul school and drummer Dab McGrath, guitarist/vocalist Justin Shekoski (ex-As Hope Dies), and former Open up Hand members bassist Zach Kennedy and guitarist/vocalist Fashion plate Burchell. The band's identify comes from a Chinese adage that way "small tenderness," as in heat carefully. Shortly after the EP's closing, Kennedy exited (release on to join Ashlee Simpson's dance orchestra) to be replaced by Chris Sorenson, and since McGrath had been enlisted alone to play drums on the record record album, Saosin weren't coagulated until that July with the summation of perm drummer Alex Rodriguez (as well erstwhile of Open up Paw).
Even though Translating had been out since March, the band didn't get its onstage debut until June.
